MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

Part 3: Setting Off

The first thing you need to do before moving on is to download the Word documument titled 'My Personal Philosophy'. Click on the link and save this document on your computer. This is the form on which you will write your personal philosophy. You will see that it is divided into a number of sections according to the six headings below. There is also a second part to this form in which, if you wish, you may record your reflections on each of these six areas.

Having downloaded and saved this document, you can start to think in earnest about each section in turn and record your thoughts. It is recommended that you start with first section (Reality) and work through each section in the order they appear; but feel free to choose. Click on the title that you want to work on.

Reality
What is the world? Does it really exist like I see it, or is it 'all in my head'?

Origins
How did the world come into being? How did life, including human life, come about?

Faith, Purpose and Meaning in Life
Why does the world exist? Is there more to the world than what is available through our senses? What is the meaning and purpose of life, including my life? What happens to me when I die? Is there an afterlife?

My Relationship with Myself
What sort of relationship do I have with myself? How much do I know myself? Am I a worthy person? Do I value myself? What sort of person should I (or do I) aspire to be?

My Relationship with Others
What kind of person do I want to be? What does it mean, for me, to be a good person? And what, for me, is right and wrong?

What Makes a Good World?
How do I believe the world should be for it to be a good place? What are the important things we should aim for to make this true?
